Day 13 in Ind

6:30am train arrives in Mumbai (Bombay). Drop our bags at the hotel and go for some brek in a manky cafe. Livvy asked for a cheese omelette and it came out as a plain omelette with a slice of burger cheese placed on the top 😂

Take a taxi tour before we can get our rooms. Stop off at the beach and another of Ghandi’s residency’s from 1917 to 1935.

Next stop was some kind of temple. Josh was newly converted to Hare Krishna.

Then the ‘hanging garden’ where nothing actually hangs, just a nice green area with mad views.

Just down the road is the tower of silence. A community who are not Muslim and not Hindu but somewhere in between and they leave dead bodies on top of the tower for the birds to eat 🤢

We stopped off at the richest man in India’s house. 5 people live there and it was crazy huge; 3 helipads, 2 floors of car parking, gym, cinema, pool, everythang.

Drove past the nicest looking train station you’ve ever seen.

Next was a slum. As you walked in there were little pools where they were doing laundry, have never seen so much laundry hanging up in my life. Saw an advert for Housekeeping staff wanted- £102 salary. Wires hanging out of houses everywhere and the floor was covered in rubbish. Walked past a rubbish bin area at the end and, the smell, good lord. Literally thought I was gonna vom.

Last stop, India gate. Built for when the queen came to visit so she could arrive in style.

Curry for luncheon before a lil nap.

Watched the sunset over the Arabian Sea. Lovely. Then walked to din. Grilled fish 😋 and a massive beer tower 😏

Drank, food, bed

Day 12 in Ind

9:30am depart for Ahmedabad. 6 hour bus journey but there was a strike on the bus we were supposed to get so we end up with our own private mini van 😏

2:30pm arrive at Ghandi’s crib. Lived here for 12 years and is where he began the Dandi march on which he achieved independence.

4:30pm at the mall. All you can eat at Pizza Hut, good lord I feel fat.

Bit o shopping until 8pm. Apparently you can’t source hairspray in India 😒

Back on the bus to go to the train station for the overnight train to Mumbai. Everyone is dubious.

Me and Charlee and top bunk buds. Super fun, like being a 12 year old at a sleepover again. Played a bit of eye spy, I am a pro. Ticket man came round at 11:30pm and wanted see everyone’s passports. He was basically punching Josh in the arm and he didn’t even stir. Need that level of sleep in my life.

The AC was blowing major everywhere and was 10/10 freezing so Alex had to go and get someone to turn it down. Still cold.

Worst nights sleep of my life. Need a new back

Day 11 in Ind

No alarm! Lovely lil lie in.

11:30am off to The Oberoi (classy hotel) with Rosie and Charlee

Still raining, time for Rains debut 💅🏼

Stop at a bakery en route for the most English lunch so far; basil and mozzarella focaccia panini and baked chocolate pie 🤤

Class it up at the Oberoi with a tour and a normal priced cocktail. Lord I wish I was rich.

Tried to get a Tuk Tuk back to the hotel but there was some festival going on so he just abandoned us as the road was closed and told us to walk. Had to find a second Tuk Tuk, just about made it in time for the cooking class.

Went to a family’s house where they showed us their wedding album. Weddings can be anywhere between 2 and 7 days!! Open bar the whole time. They then showed us how to make masala tea and pakoras and we helped to make rice and curry before eating it for din.

Had our second collision in a Tuk Tuk on the way. Piece of headlight came flying off and they just drove on as if nothing happened.

Another roof top sesh back at the hotel.

Day 10 in Ind

Not feeling tip top.

Make it out for brek at 9am. Nutella pancake, porridge, toast, fruit juice and coffee for £4.

Julian put porridge in Livvy’s coffee.

Cheeky lil boat ride on the river. Some super classy hotels that have their own little island.

Back to the hotel so Josh can have a steam bath and Julian can sew my trousers up before going to lunch.

Julian and Livvy in one Tuk Tuk, me, josh and Ellie in another. Our guy went off to get petrol rather than following them and we ended up at the other side of the lake. Had to get another Tuk Tuk so paid twice as much and had to walk around for 20 minutes trying to find them. Stress. Finally found them and they’d accidentally come across Alex and were tucking into lunch. Defs got in the wrong Tuk 😒

Lunch turned out to be v nice and we got free ice cream for leaving them a review on Tripadvisor. Did a spot of shopping and got myself some (supposedly) real silver earrings for £3 before returning to le hotel.

7pm cultural show. Started off super weird with a guy painted as a tiger crawling on the floor and a guy pretending to ride it, having a super slow mo sword fight with some other weirdo. Then some talented but weird puppetry and a bit of dancing. Finale was super cool, a woman dancing about with 10 pots stacked up on her head, literally taller than her, and treading on glass and stuff.

Dinner at Vinay’s other restaurant, also lovely. He then had his brothers birthday party to go to so bed time for us.

Day 9 in Ind

8:20am on the train to Udaipur. Vinay upgraded us to standard class from crappy class because he didn’t want to sit in there with no AC, bench seats and prison bars for windows.

11am Vinay wakes us up with pizza he ordered on the train. What a cutie.

1:30pm arrive in Udaipur. Hotel is lovely. Not allowed to stray far today as there is some weird Muslim festival going on where they whip and stab themselves and blood everywhere to feel some guys pain. Odd.

Lunch in the hotel is super crazy spicy.

Bit more sink laundry before we brave leaving the hotel.

Went to see one of the 17 lakes before walking to Vinay’s restaurant. 10/10 would Bungalow again 😋

Back at the hotel we had drinks on the roof terrace. Turns out Vinay is a literal prince and is 7th in line to the throne 😯 might stay in India to be a princess (jokes).

Ripped my new phant pants trying out my new Bollywood skills and guide ripped his shirt doing a handstand.

3am I make it to bed. Only 5 hours sleep available for me 😩

Day 8 in Ind

5am get Tuk tuks to the bottom of the mountain. Dying everywhere all the way up. Need some better lungs. Watch the sunrise at the top. Monkeys everywhere getting sass with the dogs. Back down and back to the hotel for a few more hours sleep 😏

Up for breakfast, Nutella pancake (lil bit raw but still good). Spot of tanning by the pool while the others gets a massage. Super fun times in the pool when they were back.

Back to the market via lunch on the lake. I had a veg sizzler, v nice. Got myself some phant pants, funky shorts and funky shirt in the market. Had to rush back for the camel and dinner trip. The others rode a camel up the mountain and I met them up there in a jeep (being savvy).

Got to the desert setting for the eve. All sat on a cushion thing on the floor with tiny tables. Watched a magician do some cool things, including creating a pigeon.

They lit a fire and had musicians playing and people dancing (of course we joined in) and then some fire eating and girls dancing with pots of fire on their heads.

Next was din. They served us dhal and veg and rice and chapati and deep fried pancake things. Afterwards we lay down on the cushions and star gazed, found some cool clouds and had an astronomy lesson.

Back to the hotel to depart in the morn.

Day 7 in Ind

Brek at the castle. 9am orientation walk time.

Older homes are made using cow dung mixed with mud to use as plaster. There is a pump in the village where the women go to collect water and carry it on their head. When they used to have to walk miles to collect it they could carry 5 or 6 pots on their head at one time!

Went into a potters house and tried my hand at some pottery. Made a great bowl

10:15am back in the jeeps. 1:30pm arrive in Pushkar. Hotel has a pool and the restaurant has paneer korma 👌🏼

4:30pm orientation walk. Walked through the village and to Pushkar lake where people go on pilgrimage. Then through the market, fancy myself some Indian slipper shoe things 🤔

Pizza for din in a restaurant overlooking the lake.

Walk back and rosie nearly gets attacked by a cow and I have a dog fren follow me back.

Up early to see sunrise tomoz.

Day 6 in Ind

Birthday cake for breakfast.

Got in Jeeps for the drive to Tordi Sagar, a little village where before G adventures started the tour there five years ago they’d never seen any tourists at all.

Found out why the cows have a funny lump on their back/neck; at home their food is raised at a level they can eat at when they’re confined in the sheds, whereas here they roam about everywhere and have to stretch down to eat the grass (or the rubbish) so having to stretch their neck means they have a lump of muscle at the end of it.

Our hotel in the village is a castle. The owners of the village live here.

Spot of lunch before a cheeky lil tan sesh. 3pm cricket time.

Went to go in the bathroom to shower afterwards and the doors are v low and I full on walked straight into and smashed my head. Ouch.

4:45pm picked up in different jeeps and go on a little dirt track tour of some cool things. We went up some sand dunes and watched the sun go down with tea and biscuits (no tea for me obvs). V cute.

Back to the castle for din. Some peeps got henna, been there done that.

Goodnight.

Day 5 in Ind

Went down for brek while some of the others were having their hot air balloon ride.

Livvy asked me and Ellie to look after her tea while she went back to her room quickly. We had one job… oops.

Got another crazy Tuk Tuk to the Amber Fort. Saw elephants carrying people up 😥.

There was a wheelchair behind glass that was used to carry the women when they were dressed up because the clothes and the jewellery were so heavy they couldn’t walk.

Stopped for a pic of the water palace on the way back and a buffet lunch. No spice! 😋

Me, Josh and Ellie went to see the palace of the Winds (purely a nice pic) and then attempted Sari shopping. We ended up in a shop for over an hour as we picked the scarf and he went off to get the skirt and top to go with it but was gone for ages so the other guy in the shop could try and get us to buy more 🙄 they bought a little outfit for Josh’s niece. The skirt and top he came back with were just plain and super crap qual and you couldn’t even see it underneath the sari so after all that I got just the scarf for 400 rupees.

Ready for our Bollywood dance class. We’re the next big thing.

Tour guide brought out a cake for Alex’s birthday. Best bakery in Jaipur. Cake was amazing!!

Off for din and drinks. I had garlic bread for din 😏 we went to a v nice bar after and had our own little room. Happy hour was until we were happy so a double gin and tonic became quadruple for about £4! The four borings left and then Ellie was sick so we left a little while after.

Found out some fun facts about imports from the tour guide back at the hotel.

2:30am time for bed 😴

Day 4 in Ind

Woke up feeling like poo. Me sicky. Only had three beers so I conclude it must have been the food.

Go to the bus station. 9am on a sleeper coach we depart for Jaipur.

Stop halfway and purchase some bourbons. All the health.

Next hotel is much nicer. Can actually move in the room and it has a rooftop terrace thing and a ping pong table and games.

Went for a jacket potato with beans for lunch, need a break from curry for one meal.

Played some ping pong and FaceTimed Mumma.

We then got a Tuk Tuk into the old walled town and went for a walk along all the market shops. Got into a a cycling rickshaw. Absolute chaos on the roads, v scary.

Din was in a garage that restores old cars like Cadillacs and in the evening they put tables out and serve food! I had paneer butter masala and roti. Of course it was crazy spicy. They had to go over the road to get some yogurt stuff so I could cool it down.

Back to the hotel on a Tuk Tuk, let the Delhi belly begin.

Had some illegal beers on the rooftop as the hotel doesn’t have a license 😂
