Rents arrive

Micks arrived Sunday night. Couldn’t sleep cos probs excited to see the original G. Walked into the city and went for a vegan brek and a peruse of some vintage shops. Came back as the rents had arrived 🥳 G cried obvs.

Got a smoothie in coogee before doing the coastal walk to bondi.

Tried to go to Robins cafe recommendation but got all the way there and they said they’d just stopped serving food 🙄

Managed to find food before Bondi Beach fun. Got lost walking back to Randwick but eventually made it for Lebanese dins.

Introduced the fam to goon before beddy byes.

Australia Day

Got the keys to the apartment on Thursday. No electricity so no lights for ol Loz. Took Lincoln and Sarah our for din to say thanks for feeding and housing me.

Started ma new job on Friday. Got cake as it was someone’s bday and also ‘take 5 at 5 on a Friday’, drinks and nibbles 😋 got home and my roomies had arrived and made me din.

Saturday was Ellie’s bday and Australia Day. Went to get her Prosecco and cake in the morning before we went for our bottomless Bellinis brunch in Surrey Hills. V nice meal and far too many Bellinis. Went into the city to a rooftop bar before heading home.

Sunday I was terribly ill. Vommed 12 times but managed to drag myself out to Aldi to do our food shop. Got back and me and Josh scrubbed all the floors on our hands and knees. Still get black feet when you walk around 😠 made stuffed peppers for din for the lil fam.

Bank holiday Monday for Australia Day. Pancakes for brek 🥞 Met Josh’s friend from school in Bondi Junction and got coffee, then went off bowling. Won the first game and was so into it I broke two nails and made my finger bleed. Got pizza and then came back and played some cool card games.

Spent an hour and a half prepping my lunches for the week. Back to reality tomoz.

Blue Mountains

Life update: secured a house with josh and Ellie for the next six months and may have secured a 4 week job to start paying for it.

Saturday:

Drove an hour and a half to the Blue Mountains. Saw the three sisters and walked down to touch the first one.

Went to Scenic world where we went on the sky cable across the forest below us and saw kootoomba falls. Next up was the worlds steepest railway which used to be used for mining. Took us down to the scenic walkway which had a dinosaur theme for the summer holidays. Back up on the cable car and then home time.

Sunday: bought myself some bedding for the new home.

Bonded with the kids playing Wii. Turns out kids love me (cos I basically am one). Who knew.

First weekend with the new fam

Saturday:

Got the ferry down the river and into the harbour, under the harbour bridge and by the opera house. Then a second ferry across to Manly. Had the nicest lunch in the harbour and they paid for everything because they said I’m probs poor. Too true.

Walked along to the beach, crazy busy. Saw some cool water dragons, actually just big lizard things.

Me and Lincoln swam from a rock back round to the beach. I was too scared to jump off the rock as I thought I’d land on one so tried to lower myself in instead but then a load of waves came and just washed me back in. Rolling around on the rock like a washed up seal. V embarrassing and scratched my arms up. Finally made it into the water and the lifeguard peeps in their boat came to see if we were ok as clearly looked like I was drowning. Made it back to the beach then saw a load of blue bottles in the water. I’m getting out of here.

Wandered round the market before getting the ferry back to the city.

Showed me round Barangaroo classy bar area and had a drink then ferried back home.

Sunday:

Off to Featherdale Wildlife Park. I TOUCHED A KOALA AND HAND FED WALLAS AND KANGAS!! Best day ever! Saw loads of other cool Australian animals like echidnas, wombats, quokkas, Tasmanian devils and dingos. Lincoln and Sarah probs feel like they’ve gained a fourth child 😏

Day 10 in Oz

Managed to get as far as the city centre on the bus for free then the driver on the second bus made me tap on. Awks. Left the opal card in my pocket and managed to lose it 😒

Went to a house viewing. Waste of time as it was unfurnished. Apparently it showed up as furnished because it has a fridge and washing machine!? Can’t sleep on a fridge can I.

Walked to Coogee beach and ate my lunch there before wandering around trying to find estate agents. All rather unhelpful.

Came back and walked Cookie. Got super sass at other dogs, apparently just because I didn’t let her say hello. Embarrassing.

Went to the supermarket with Lincoln to try and offer money. Ended up putting in Linda Linda burgers and quorn mince and then he said he’d pay for it. Another awks.

TV seems to be stuck on a cricket channel so evenings are pretty boring. Much like my blog these days. Soz fans.

Day 9 in Oz

Took Cookie for a walk which she was super excited about. Wore me out but came back and did a joe. New year, new Loz.

Opened the front door to find a box of like 20 doughnuts on the floor. Super confused, though they were poisonous or something but brought them in.

Got on the bus to start making my way to a house viewing. Been on it less than five minutes and got a text to say it was cancelled 😒 carried on into the city for something to do. Walked around like a tourist for a bit, saw the opera house and harbour bridge then came back.

Turns out one of the neighbours had a bakery and often brings leftover stuff round so the doughnuts are safe. Don’t mind if I do.

Day 8 in Oz

Returned the car safe and sound and got dropped at the airport.

Had to surrender my duct tape as apparently you can’t take it in hand luggage!?

3:30pm touch down in Sydney. Got the train/bus to Lincoln and Sarah’s house.

THEY HAVE A DOG. Cookie the cavapoo 😍

Bit of awks small talk with Lincoln. Sarah came home at like 6:30pm. Bit more awks talk then had dinner whilst watching eastenders 😏

Sallyha FaceTimed.

Got showed the keys and washing machine etc before my first night in my new home for the next few weeks.

Day 7 in Oz

Had a v nice breakfast next to the sea. Drove to Logan’s beach whale watching point. No whales.

Finally got onto the great ocean road. Stopped off at bay of islands, the grotto, London Bridge, the arch, thunder cave, Loch Ard gorge, the razorback, and of course the 12 apostles. Basically a ton of cool rocks.

Onto the Otway Rainforest. Went for a walk in the hope of koala spotting. No luck but saw a lil guy sleeping in the tree on the way to Kennett River. Also some kangas in the field opposite.

One last stop at Lorne light house before heading back to Melbourne.

Great ocean road, completed it m8.

Day 6 in Oz

Woke up at 7:30am ready to leave early for a road trip. Got a phone call from Beth at 8 saying Maria hadn’t even left the house yet 😒

Finally picked them up from the station at 9:40. Drove two and a half hours to Grampians National Park. Windy road up the mountain to the v cool Boroka lookout. On to Mackenzie falls. Had a picnic lunch at the top of the falls.

Left the grampians to head for mount Gambier. Had to stop at the most hilarious traffic light; no cars around and hadn’t been civilisation for miles and then just one random red light. Eventually went green and turned out there was a lane closure, not that any cars were coming the other way. Got down to quarter of a tank of fuel so searched for the nearest petrol station. Twenty minutes away, probs gonna make it…got there and there was a little tiny pump like the ones I’d seen in Kenya, covered in cobwebs, in the middle of a little tiny town where every single shop was shut and looked like no one had been there for about twenty years. Like in the film cars. Apparently there’s a BP another twenty minutes away, let’s hope this one is from the 21st century. Unfortunately not but thank the lord there is an open one 2km down the road.

Carried on the mount gambier and got some food before seeing the sink hole and blue lake.

Drove to Warrnambool. Saw loads of wallabies on the way, crazy cool. Managed to get into a hostel at like 11:30 just before they closed up. Drank some goon before bed.

Day 5 in Oz

Got myself an Aussie phone number 🐨

Went to the library to ozify my CV to see if I have any more luck with jobs that way. Applied to like a thousand.

Came back to the hostel for the free plain pasta even though I’m not even staying here anymore.

Booked a hire car ready for tomorrow’s road trip.

40 degrees outside today so took refuge in the hostel common area. Still v hot as no AC. Watched some mad men, then met up with Beth to arrange great ocean road things for the weekend. Canadian gal, seems a bit loud but beggars can’t be choosers 😏

Met up with Donna and Hilary who I’d met in Kenya and went to a bar with mini golf. Coolest golf course ever and played whilst drinking Pimms 😏 went for dinner afterwards at a v nice Italian place and they paid for everything! V nice of them

Got the train back to Indian dudes house where we used his housemates car to go and pick the hire car up from the airport. My first time driving an automatic but I made it back!
